The Film: The Pittsburgh Shoot
January 10, 2012
Pittsburgh was the second stop for the TJWK Crew. For satellite location shoots outside of State College, new team members were recruited to the core project team. Chuck Fusina ’79 joined existing team member Bob Capretto ’67 to host the shoot at the Duquesne Club in downtown Pittsburgh.
The first shoot crisis occurred the night before when the Crew arrived to set up. It seems the crew’s dress standards of jeans and t-shirts missed the mark of collared shirts with a tie and sport coat necessary for entrance to the Club. Negotiations ensued and an indirect route through the kitchen and back hallways was negotiated. After all, it’s a crew member’s job not to be seen!
With no budget for still photography, a desperate call was made to a team member’s friend, Duane Rieder of Rieder Photography in Lawrenceville. After a short phone description of the effort, work was juggled and a plan was hatched. At 7:30 AM on January 10, Miss Katie Petraitis showed up and joined the Crew. Amazing work, no charge. She said it was an honor. Little did she know, it was an honor for all of us.
The day was launched, guys showed up early for their appointments, and guess what? They never left! The spontaneous reunion magic happened again. What is it that bonds men together, some of which have never met one another?
Black Shoes, Basic Blues, No Names on the Jerseys.
